Principal Industrial Designer


As Principal Industrial Designer, you are the vanguard of your craft and discipline. Your craft mastery is broad and extraordinary, and regularly awes other designers. With substantial life- and project-experience under the belt, there are few topics or situations that you haven't dealt with before, making you a routined and resourceful lead for pitches and complex projects. While your lucid thinking and hard-earned '*wisdom of practice*' provides strong guidance, it's also credible ground for championing distinctperspectives on the future of design and innovation. On a personal level, you are a role-model for an open-minded and compassionate culture of innovation, with a voice and presence that can be heard throughout the organisation.

  • design, plan, articulate and lead complex interdisciplinary client-projects and teams
  • conduct desktop- and qualitative-research, and identify intriguing insights
  • create compelling design-stories and design/brand-strategy frameworks
  • plan and conduct exploration workshops with colleagues and clients
  • explore and generate innovative ideas, and turn them into people-minded concepts
  • develop and champion original perspectives on your craft and where it's heading
  • design products and experiences using CC, Rhino, Solidworks, Keyshot and Cinema 4D
  • build narratives and presentations that wow clients
  • minimum 10+ years of industry work experience as an industrial designer in an international setting. experience with Chinese market/clients would is a plus
  • solid experience in delivering, winning and losing(!) pitches
  • natural authority, healthy ambition and high emotional intelligence. people leadership experience is a plus
  • convincing critical thinking, outstanding creativity and outstanding presentation skills. Advanced Powerpoint skills expected
  • exceptional ability to design, plan, articulate and lead complex interdisciplinary projects: with a strong method-set and minimal supervision
  • keen sense for details and outstanding commitment to craft, particularly hand-sketching, CC, Rhino or Solidworks, Keyshot and Cinema 4D
  • confident coverage of topics beyond your core discipline: e.g. CMF, research, brand-strategy, UX/UI
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Chinese and/or German skills are a big plus
